Towards Safe Vehicle Navigation in Dynamic Urban Scenarios

چکیده
This paper describes the deliberative part of a navigation architecture designed for safe vehicle navigation in dynamic urban environments. It comprises two key modules working together in a hierarchical fashion: (a) the Route Planner whose purpose is to compute a valid itinerary towards the a given goal. An itinerary comprises a geometric path augmented with additional information based on the structure of the environment considered and traffic regulations, and (b) the Partial Motion Planner whose purpose is to ensure the proper following of the itinerary while dealing with the moving objects present in the environment (eg other vehicles, pedestrians). In the architecture proposed, a special attention is paid to the motion safety issue, ie the ability to avoid collisions. Different safety levels are explored and their operational conditions are explicitly spelled out (something which is usually not done).

Improving the Reliability of GPS and GLONASS Navigation Solution in Urban Canyons using a Tuned Kalman Filter
Abstract: Urban canyon is categorized as hard environment for positioning of a dynamic vehicle due to low number and also bad configuration of in-view satellites. In this paper, a tuning procedure is proposed to adjust the important factors in Kalman Filter (KF) using Genetic Algorithm (GA). The authors tested the algorithm on a dynamic vehicle in an urban canyon with hard condition and compare...

متن کاملGPS/INS Integration for Vehicle Navigation based on INS Error Analysis in Kalman Filtering
The Global Positioning System (GPS) and an Inertial Navigation System (INS) are two basic navigation systems. Due to their complementary characters in many aspects, a GPS/INS integrated navigation system has been a hot research topic in the recent decade. The Micro Electrical Mechanical Sensors (MEMS) successfully solved the problems of price, size and weight with the traditional INS. Therefore...
